What does invert fan control do?

Anyone know what "invert fan control" actually does? I assumed that it reverts the fan direction, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Does anyone know in what scenario this option should be enabled?

If your fan can only spin one way, the invert setting doesn’t do anything at all. If you buy a fan that goes both ways, the setting will work.

@tech-guru2025 oh that actually makes sense. I asked chatgpt and it appears noctua does not invert so that's why the setting is having no affect. It says fans designed to invert have reverse blades and noctua does not.

@magicmike42 Right noctua only goes one way. You can physically flip the noctua to reverse the airflow, but this leads to more dust accumulation on the fan blades, and is far less efficient then just switching it out for a fan with reverse blades. Flipping the noctua might even void your warranty..

@sebastian-guy do you know of any bitaxe compatible fans with reverse blades? When I do searches for fan upgrades for bitaxe all I come up with is noctua.

@magicmike42 instead of googling fans for bitaxe, try googling fans for rasberry pi. That will get you a better search result... google hasn't completely figured out what a bitaxe is just yet.

Actually, in some cases the invert fan setting may disable the fan if it doesn't go both directions. The invert setting confuses and stops it altogether.
