If you have purchased your NMMaxe (Bitaxe) lottery miner, it will not be that difficult to set it up, as shown below. Here’s an easy-to-understand guide to help even a novice cryptocurrency miner understand the whole process.

Lottery miners, or solo miners, do not offer guaranteed profits but provide the user with chances of earning Bitcoin from mining blocks. Lottery miners should be thought of as a prolonged experiment.

Before You Begin

Make sure that you have the following:

  • Stable WiFi connectivity
  • Your WiFi SSID and password
  • A Bitcoin wallet (you can either download Trust Wallet or use any wallet available to you)
  • Receive the address of your Bitcoin wallet
  • Battery power for the device

1- Power it On

To set up a new bitaxe plug it in.

  • The full color LCD will turn on.
  • A QR code will appear on the screen.

There is a protective film over the screen. This needs to be peeled off for an unhindered vision. When powered up, allow some time for the full initialization process of the product. It must stabilize itself before proceeding further. If there is no response from the screen, check whether the connections are secure and correctly made.

2- Connect to WIFI

To connect your device:

  • Scan the QR code with your phone.

OR

  • On your computer, look for a Wifi hotspot named: “NMAxe_xxxxx”.

Then:

  • Select the device name
  • Enter the password: 12345678

Each device would be equipped with its own hotspot name for easy identification purposes. Upon connection, your device would behave as a mini-access point. This enables you to configure the device even without internet connectivity at first. You must remain connected to the network till such time that the configuration process is completed.

3- Configure the Device

Once connected to “NMAxe_xxxxx”, the configuration page appears.

If the config page does not appear:

  • Open your browser.
  • Type: 192.168.4.1

Enter Required Details

Most of the settings are pre-configured for ease of use. You will need to fill in:

  • Enter your WiFi network name (SSID) and
  • Enter your Wi-Fi password so the device can establish a connection.

Mining Settings

For “Stratum User,” copy and paste your crypto wallet address; make sure it corresponds to the coin you are mining! If you do not yet have a crypto wallet, you can get a free cryptocurrency wallet from Trust Wallet, and they will provide you with a virtual (online) wallet address for free. Just click on Bitcoin in the asset list and then copy/paste your “Receive” address (or scan the QR code).

Stratum URL” is the URL of your mining pool. This defaults to publicpool.io, but you can replace this with a mining pool of your choice.

The “Fallback” fields for “Stratum User” and “Stratum URL” are for your backup pool (in case the primary pool crashes). You would put your same wallet address and then your backup pool URL in these fields. If you don’t want to select a backup pool, just copy and paste the same “Stratum User” and “Stratum URL” from the “Primary” fields above it.

If you’ve completed these steps and you’re still having trouble, please see our troubleshooting page, as this will resolve 99% of issues you may be having.

4- Start Mining

Once connected, your Bitcoin Lottery Miner will automatically start mining from a new bitaxe over WIFI. If your device finds a Bitcoin block, the cryptocurrency will be deposited into the wallet address you entered in the “Stratum User” field.

Once your device is configured, you will access your AXEos control panel by typing the IP address of your lottery miner into the address bar of your browser. Your device IP will be visible on the LCD display of your device once it’s been configured.

If you are using multiple devices, each of them will have a unique IP address. You can view the mining stats of all your devices simultaneously by clicking on “Swarm” on the panel menu at the top left of the AXEos control panel.

This is a lottery-style miner, also known as a solo miner (meaning payouts depend on finding a valid hash). It gives you a chance to earn real Bitcoin, but results are not guaranteed. Think of this sort of like buying a Bitcoin lottery ticket, except most lottery tickets expire immediately after the drawing, but this machine gives you access to a lifetime lottery for a one-time payment.

5- Watch Your Progress

The built-in LCD screen displays your mining progress in real-time, showing your hashrate and any Bitcoin you’ve earned. You can also check your mining stats by visiting the website for your mining pool and typing your Bitcoin receive address into the search bar, but keep in mind that pool stats are often not accurate. The most accurate hashing stats will always be on the new Bitaxe device itself.

If you need help setting up a “CYD” (Cheap Yellow Device), we have instructions for this type of USB Lottery Miner as well.

What Results Should You Expect?

This is a lottery miner, where payouts do not occur consistently. The miner will continuously attempt to solve for a proper hash until it is successful, at which point the reward will be claimed. In view of the way mining difficulty operates, the odds of getting a block are incredibly slim.

The miner behaves like a lottery ticket that does not expire; you just keep trying until you get lucky.

Reality Check

It is certainly not a dependable income source and should never be considered as such. The primary goal here is studying, practicing, and gaining insight into the process of Bitcoin mining.

A large number of users have operated their rigs for months, sometimes even years, before discovering a block. It’s completely normal when it comes to solo mining because it’s simply the nature of the beast.

The true benefit you receive lies within the practical experience you gain. You learn how mining pools operate, how the process of blockchain validation is performed, and so forth.

Common Setup Issues & Fixes

Here are some common issues and their fixes:

Device Hotspot Not Showing

In case the hotspot for the device does not appear, power off the miner and turn it back on again, waiting for 1 to 2 minutes for the device to completely boot up.

Should the hotspot be missing even after following the above steps, try unplugging the power source and then plugging it back in.

Configuration Page Not Opening

When the setup page fails to load on its own, use your browser to access the following IP address:

192.168.4.1

Remember that you need to remain connected to the WiFi hotspot of the device for this to work.

WiFi Not Connecting

First, make sure the correct SSID and password of your home network are entered, as even a simple typo may cause problems.

In addition, ensure that your home network operates on the 2.4 GHz band, since most mining equipment supports only this frequency band.

No Hashrate Showing

If there is no hash rate, then first look at your settings. Confirm that your pool URL is correct, and your wallet address is also correct.

Once everything is verified, restart the machine to get it to connect with the new settings.

Final Fixes

In case of any problems, doing a complete reset of the router and configuring it again will solve most problems by correcting any settings that might be wrong.

Updating firmware, if possible, will increase the stability, connectivity, and performance of your internet service.

FAQs

Can I earn a regular income from this miner?

It is impossible to make a regular income on this miner because the probability of a successful search for an appropriate block is extremely small.

Conclusion

The setup of the NMMaxe lottery miner is easy; all you need to do is follow the basic procedures, which should take less than five minutes for completion. The miner starts automatically when you power it on and connects to the internet via WiFi while also accessing your wallet information.

Although the miner cannot generate enough money for you reliably, it provides an excellent platform for understanding how the Bitcoin mining system works. You get to learn about blockchain technology, mining pools, and probability mining. While the main purpose is not to earn money but to learn, there are always some rewards in the form of coins. You can also use the opportunity to experiment and test how different parameters affect mining efficiency.
